I can’t believe how much earlier and earlier the Christmas season starts each year. The local radio station that goes all Christmas music during the season normally starts on Thanksgiving Day. This year it was the week before.
If you need a break from the Christmas music already, then this month’s playlist is for you. Fun, sassy and as non-Christmas as you can get, it’s my annual Disco December Playlist!
- I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor : The anthem for every post break up come back, this should also be your mantra before an extremely intense workout.
- Hot Stuff by Donna Summer : Hot stuff-what you will be if you keep working hard and eating right!
- Turn The Beat Around by Vicki Sue Robinson : Considered by some a one hit wonder, but it had a great remake in the 90s by Gloria Estefan.
- Heaven Must Have Sent You by Bonnie Pointer : Bad pick up line, great song.
- Young Hearts Run Free by Candi Staton : If you can get outside and run free this time of year I envy you. I’m not a cold weather person.
- You Should Be Dancing by the Bee Gees : Any disco list must have the Bee Gees. Dancing can be great cardio too!
- Don’t Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston : I always think of the movie 54 when I hear this song. I don’t know why.
- Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) by Abba : This song you’ve heard a sample of in a more recent pop hit. Thanks Madge.
- Xanadu by Olivia Newton-John : Okay so this was 1980, but still the cusp of the disco era.
- Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John & Kiki Dee : If you can find the Elton John and RuPaul version go for that one.
- If I Can’t Have You by Yvonne Elliman : This is my favorite of all the songs on this list. I could listen to this one over and over again, anytime, anywhere.
Merry Fitness!!!
