Monthly Workout Playlist September 2012

I don’t use my iPhone for music. When I need workout music I actually use my Shuffle. It’s small, non obtrusive and if I get caught in my wires and fling it across the room it won’t shatter.

But when my fitness journey began in 1999 Apple had not yet dominated the mobile music industry. When I started going to the gym on a regular basis all I had, all I could afford, was the music the gym played over the speakers.

Then Brian got me a Rio 800 player as a gift. Anyone else remember the Rio Player? It was about the size of a deck of cards and held just over an hour of music. If my workout ran over, then I got to hear part of my playlist twice. Variety was not easily forthcoming in this world before iTunes.

This month’s playlist is dedicated to the first year of my journey, 1999, and songs that may have been on my Rio player. Do you have a favorite workout song that was fresh when you started your journey?
