I finally listened to Christmas music over the weekend. Despite it’s presence on local radio since Halloween I have abstained from holiday music, trying to avoid burnout. I like my holidays one at a time, thank you very much. Now, with my Christmas shopping started and the 12 Days of Fitmas workout ready to go, I am enjoying classic carols and pop remakes.
But not during my workout.
I won’t be playing Christmas music in the gym. It doesn’t make for a fun workout. With all the stress the holidays can bring, I want to keep the gym a fun and friendly place to be, even more so than usual. What’s the most fun music you can find? DISCO!
It’s time for the Disco December workout playlist. May your workouts be filled with energy and joy!
- Dancing Queen by Abba: No matter where I am when this song comes on I will dance.
- I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor: A great tune (and motto) for circuit training day!
- Knock on Wood by Amii Stewart: A couple of taps on the Yule log ought to do it.
- Don’t Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston: You can use this one if your gym buddy tries to ditch you over the holidays. No excuses!
- I’m Every Woman by Chaka Khan: Perfect power song! Celebrate you and your strength!
- Last Dance by Donna Summer: It gives me hope for summer.
- It’s Raining Men by the Weather Girls: Original or RuPaul?
- Young Hearts Be Free by Candi Stanton: In the gym we are all young.
- I Love the Night Life by Anita Bridges: This time of year who doesn’t? The lights, the parties, the fireworks on New Year’s Eve!
- If I Can’t Have You by Yvonne Ellman: Maybe we can’t workout together but I am always there in spirit!
Christmas music for your workout – yea or nay?
