You are determined to end this year on a high note.
After a few bumps in the road this year, your mantra for this holiday season is:
Let It Be EASY
After being so focused on doing what needs to be done all year long, you want to indulge yourself…just a little bit. You want something special under the tree, not a replacement for your broken slow cooker. You don’t want things you need, you want what you WANT.
That means something with a little thought and NO gift cards. It doesn’t have to be expensive but it should be from the heart. It should be something that speaks to your desire to live an authentic fit life.
I’ve got you covered. I’ve curated a list of some the best creative and indulgent fitness gifts just for you! Let me help you make getting what you want this holiday season the easiest thing you’ll do. Here’s your delightfully simple fitness holiday wish list!
The Expert’s Picks For the Best Fitness Gifts 2017
This is the 6th year I have created a fit gift guide for Paul Adler with Ozarks Today on KY3. This year, however, I enlisted some help from other local fitness experts to create a list of amazing fitness gifts for 2017. Not only do I think you’ll find something for your WANT list, you’ll probably see something that your running buddy/sister-in-law would like too.
Eric of Fleet Feet Sports recommended the Lucy brand Get Going pant so you can be stylish and comfortable leading while leading an active life. Available in a variety of colors, these pants have a great fit and flexibility. You’ll want to wear them everywhere, not just the gym. If you’re short like me, the Get Going capri pants are a perfect length! Check them out for yourself at Fleet Feet Sports or get them here online.
Cassie Dimmick of Achieving Your Best was totally feeling my vibe when she suggested something you wouldn’t normally buy yourself: massage balls and rollers. I recommend the Massage Track Tool Whole Body Kit from Deep Recovery. The Whole Body Kit comes with several massage balls, a body track and a neck track so you can hit your most tense and sore areas from almost every angle. It’s not as good as getting a massage from a trained massage therapist but it can feel really good after rough day. The tool comes with access to videos that show you exactly how to it for the most benefit. The kit is available here.
Alex from Sangha Yoga Studio (my new favorite hangout!) had a great suggestion to add to that recovery vibe. Sangha’s selection of Banyan Botanicals Ayurvedic massage oils are the perfect substitute for lotion during the dry winter months to sooth tired muscles. They are made from a sesame oil base, a warming oil perfect for winter, and organic herbs and spices. You’ll feel amazing putting something on your body that is just as good as what you put in your body. Find the oils locally at Sangha Yoga Studio or online at Amazon here.
My personal pick is for the music lover who hates being tethered to their phone to enjoy their favorite tunes. The Jaybird X3 sport wireless earbuds are all about freedom! It was amazing going for my first run WITHOUT my phone and WITH my music on my Apple Watch! Plus, with amazing sound and easy to use controls, you’ll never get caught in the wires while lifting again. I wear them to watch Grace & Frankie on the treadmill in the gym and to listen to my favorite podcasts while I cook dinner. Check them out here.
Gifts That Keep on Giving
Do you love getting mail? Me too! A subscription box service that supports your healthy living goals is an excellent gift to give or receive. But which one to choose?
Last year, I did the work for you and tested some of the most popular boxes out there. I am partial to tea boxes of course but I have a whole list of options for the new runner, the gym lover or the budding yogi. Click here to see videos of all the options and learn now to sign up.
The Best Health and Fitness Books To Give and Receive
My personal wish list is always full of books. Books are my restorative niche and how I learn best. If you love reading books that support your fitness mission, I’ve got four books that are perfect for you.
The Secret Life of Introverts: Inside Our Hidden World by Jenn Granneman. From the author of the uber popular blog Introvert, Dear, this book helps you understand why you really would rather run alone or be in your pajamas on a Saturday night. It also reassures you that this is a perfectly fine choice for your temperament. She shares profiles and expert tips that help you harness the power of your introvertness and make it work for you.
The Women’s Health Fitness Fix by Jen Ator. Even coaches need coaches. Due to time and the natural desire to do the exercises I like, I usually do programs from other coaches. My holidays are busy too and the workouts in this book are helping me fill in the few weeks before I start my new training program.
The Four Tendencies: The Indispensable Personality Profiles That Revel How To Make Your Life Better by Gretchen Rubin. I am huge fan of the Four Tendencies, which Rubin introduced in her book Better Than Before. I use the framework not just with my client but in my personal life as well to do things just a little better or to have some grace with myself.
Drop The Ball: Achieving More By Doing Less by Tiffany Dufu. You can do anything, just not everything. I firmly believe finding your Middle Ground means saying NO to the stuff that really doesn’t matter. Learn how it’s ok, and even better sometimes, to drop the ball.
You know what else will make this holiday season easy? My 12 Days of Fitmas program! For my email subscribers it starts December 1. Join here!
